Man United vs Newcastle – Betting Preview
On Sunday, the 2022–23 English domestic season’s inaugural trophy will be claimed. The Carabao Cup final features Manchester United vs. Newcastle United.
In the English Premier League, both teams are in the top five, with Man Utd in third place and seven points ahead of Newcastle in fourth.
Manchester United hasn’t claimed a trophy in five years, and Newcastle’s most recent significant domestic cup victory dates back to the 1950s.
Man United Preview
The undisputed favourite to win the Carabao Cup final is Manchester United.
They have gone nine games without a loss, with their most recent victory coming in a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at home. The only defeat they have suffered in their last 20 competitive games was a late goal against league leaders Arsenal on the road.
In each of their last ten games, United has scored at least twice. At the start of the season, Marcus Rashford has produced a tonne of work (and wasn’t too shabby at the World Cup too). His blank performance against Barca snapped a scoring streak of six straight games. He has 16 goals in his last 18 appearances.
United beat Aston Villa, Burnley, Charlton and Nottingham Forest to reach this final, not the hardest route to the final. Away from Old Trafford, they have only that loss to the Gunners in their last seven competitive fixtures with Rashford scoring in five of the last six.
Newcastle Preview
Recently, Newcastle United has had trouble picking up victories. They had lost their last three games into this championship.
Their most recent game ended in a 2-0 loss against Liverpool at home. Before to it, they’d drawn twice at 1-1 with bottom-of-the-table Premier League teams Bournemouth and West Ham United.
Only two goals have been scored in the last three games for Newcastle, who are struggling to score goals. In their last 11 league and cup games, they have scored more than once just twice.
That one win was important though as it was the 1-0 win at Southampton in the first leg of the semi-finals. To reach this final, the Magpies have beaten Tranmere Rovers (who they trailed 1-0 to), Crystal Palace (on penalties), Bournemouth, Leicester and Southampton.
1×2 Betting Odds
Let’s analyse the 1×2 betting market.
This Carabao Cup final can be won by Manchester United. They are the undisputed form pick, and it will be their first major title since 2017. Marcus Rashford is there in prime condition. They defeated Barcelona at home on Thursday to advance to the Europa League’s round of 16. With only one loss in the previous seven games, the team’s away form is also strong.
United to win this final stands @ 2.31.
Although Newcastle United has been playing well this season, they haven’t been at their best lately. They have just three points from their last four league games, none of which have been victories, yet they are still in fourth place in the Premier League. In contrast to its opponents, Newcastle is currently scoring fewer goals!
Newcastle to win their first major trophy after the 1950s, stands @ 3.58.
The market odds for a draw after 90 mins are played stands @ 3.56.
Total goals over/under
Let’s analyse the over/under market.
The odds that the total number of goals scored will be over 2.5, stands @ 2.15.
While the odds that the total number of goals will be under 2.5, stands @ 1.86.
Since it has been a while that both these sides have won anything, expect the teams to play with caution and care.
So like most finals pan out… expect this one to be a low scoring affair too!
