Man Utd interested in signing Marco Asensio

Spanish striker Marco Asensio has ignited transfer speculation by admitting that ‘there are options’ about his future at Real Madrid.

According to GOAL.com, Asensio’s current contract expires at the end of next season, and while Real would like the player to sign a new contract, the club is willing to cash in on him this summer.

Manchester United are allegedly keeping a close eye on the forward’s status as they try to add many players as part of new manager Erik ten Hag’s team revamp.

While on international service, Asensio informed reporters, ‘I have one year remaining on my contract.’ Now I’m concentrating on the national team.

‘When this is done, we’ll chat.’ We’ll see what happens with my future. ‘I believe there are options.’ There is also the option of remaining and completing my contract year.

Asensio has three Champions League titles to his name.

‘Rumors are a part of football, especially at Real Madrid. It is always linked with high-level athletes. It is something we must accept.’

Real Madrid are obviously keen to prevent Asensio from leaving for free in a year’s time and are ready for hard discussions once he returns from international duty with Spain.

Asensio is apparently looking for promises about playing time, and despite his desire to remain at the Bernabeu, he is willing to move elsewhere to receive the minutes on the pitch he desires.

The Red Devils are not understood to be interested in the Spanish international, with the Premier League club prioritising their efforts to sign Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

With the probable exits of Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, and, of course, club record acquisition Paul Pogba, United’s shopping list is expected to be lengthy this summer season.

Despite the fact that Asensio is not confirmed to be on ten Hag’s radar, a club undertaking such a high-profile renovation as United would undoubtedly want to recruit a star with Asensio’s medal haul and talent.

With the Spanish team already packed with wingers, he will want to guarantee he starts every possible game at his club ahead of the World Cup.

According to Goal, the Spanish international has spoken to the media about his future plans and has already answered to inquiries concerning suspicions such as ties to Manchester United.

Asensio said “I have one year left on my contract,” when asked about the expiration of his current deal.

“When this is over, we will talk. We will see what I will do with my future. I think there are possibilities. There is also the option to stay and fulfill my contract year.

“Rumours are part of football, and more so at Real Madrid. High-level players are always associated with it. It’s something we have to live with.”
