Manchester United came from behind to score three goals in the final minutes in a 4-1 victory at St James’ Park on Saturday night.
Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United took the lead inside three minutes when Emil Kraft’s cross was deflected into his own net by Luke Shaw.
Captain Harry Maguire had headed home an equaliser on 25 minutes before Bruno Fernandes saw his second half penalty saved by Karl Darlow. The Portuguese playmaker had previously been 10 out of 10 from the spot for us.
Fernandes came up with a fine strike to give us the lead five minutes from time, before Aaron Wan-Bissaka made it 3-1 in the final minute and Marcus Rashford added to the score in stoppage time.
Here are my player ratings from Newcastle United 1-4 Manchester United:
David de Gea 7 – Didn’t have a chance with the goal and made some good saves afterwards.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 9 – Did a good job to keep Allan Saint-Maximin quiet before coming up with a goal of his own from right-back.
Victor Lindelof 7 – Callum Wilson was kept quiet for most parts of the game.
Harry Maguire 9 – Easily the best performance of the season for our captain who put his England red card from midweek behind him quickly. Harry Maguire equalised to get us on our way back to victory and was solid in defence.
Luke Shaw 7 – The own goal next to his name doesn’t look good but Luke Shaw kept Joelinton quiet for 90 minutes down the wing.
Scott McTominay 7 – Made a few tackles and started a few attacks from the middle of the park.
Fred 8 – Energetic performance in breaking up a number of Newcastle attacks. Looked after the ball well in his own half too.
Juan Mata 7 – A surprise inclusion in the starting lineup, Juan Mata created a few chances on his way to getting an assist down the right wing.
Bruno Fernandes 9 – Recovered from a missed penalty to score the winning goal late on. Bruno Fernandes registered an assist, created numerous chances and fired lots of efforts in on Karl Darlow’s goal.
Daniel James 6 – Was keen to get among the goals but only tested the Newcastle goalkeeper once from five efforts on goal.
Marcus Rashford 8 – Will have been pleased to get a goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time after producing shot after shot tonight. Marcus Rashford also registered two assists from the striker’s role.
Paul Pogba (23 mins) 7 – The scoreline was 1-1 when Paul Pogba replaced Fred in a more attacking move. Although the French international wasn’t involved in any of the goals we dominated possession and territory following his introduction.
Donny van de Beek (16 mins) 6 – Even though we scored four goals after Donny van de Beek came on the summer signing wasn’t hugely influential on the game.
Nemanja Matic (1 min) N/A – Came on at 3-1 to help see out the six minutes of stoppage time and we ended up scoring again.
