Manchester United continue to be linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund ace Jadon Sancho.
The England international currently leads the Bundesliga in assists, with 15 in 23 appearances (21 starts). He also has 14 goals as part of a formidable attack that also includes Erling Haaland.
It would not surprise us here at United Ramble should Sancho leave Signal Iduna Park this summer. The 19-year-old has been in the Dortmund for three seasons now and the club have fallen behind Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig in recent seasons so he may want to find a new club.
Borussia Dortmund are aware of this and have set their asking price for the forward, according to AS.com.
Having landed Bruno Fernandes in January, resulting in a great improvement in our performances and results it wouldn’t be unreasonable to bring Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford over the summer. There’s every reason for us to be optimistic that a deal could be struck following a report in The Telegraph that claim personal terms, including a £200,000-a-week salary, are ‘being agreed’ and that we are ‘leading the race’ to sign him.
AS reports that Borussia Dortmund have set a minimum price ‘to start listening to offers for its young star’ of €140 million (£121 million). This represents a £32 million increase on our record transfer fee of £89.3 million paid for Paul Pogba back in 2016.
What’s more, his valuation could increase between now and the start of next season. Borussia Dortmund are still in the Champions League and Jadon Sancho is expected to be a starter in Gareth Southgate’s England side at Euro 2020 over the summer.
Jadon Sancho still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract in Germnay, so there is little chance that Dortmund will lower their asking price for the next 12 months at least.
With Ed Woodward reportedly keen on bringing Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, it is possible that we will break the bank to bring sign him as early as this summer. Qualification for next season’s Champions League would certainly go a long way to accomplishing this.
