Manchester United came from behind to draw 1-1 at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon. The result leaves us three points behind Chelsea in fourth.
David de Gea gifted the hosts the lead inside three minutes when our goalkeeper delayed in possession before seeing his attempted clearance charged down by Dominic Calvert-Lewin into the back of our net.
The goalkeeper wasn’t much better at the other end on the half hour mark when Bruno Fernandes’ low effort from 20 yards managed to beat Jordan Pickford at his near post. It was another man of the match performance from the Portuguese superstar, who was a threat to the Everton goal all afternoon.
Odion Ighalo was introduced with a couple of minutes to play and will wonder how he failed to score the winner. The Nigerian’s effort from two yards was somehow blocked by Pickford.
David de Gea then turned hero in stoppage time to deny Calvert-Lewin the winner, and whilst the Everton striker’s rebound did find the corner via a big deflection it was correctly ruled out by VAR for offside.
