Manchester United were held 1-1 by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday as Adam Lallana scored a late equaliser for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had set us up perfectly on the tactical side as the Premier League leaders rarely threatened David de Gea’s goal until the defence went missing for the goal.
We had taken the lead 10 minutes before half-time when Marcus Rashford converted from close range following an excellent cross by Daniel James down the right wing.
Here are my player ratings from Manchester United 1-1 Liverpool:
David de Gea 6 – Didn’t have a chance with the Liverpool goal and had little else to do all game.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka 8 – Was having an excellent game on the right-side of a back five but left Andrew Robertson endless time and space to provide the cross for Liverpool’s late equaliser. Looked more comfortable putting crosses in when getting forward too, though never picked out a teammate.
Victor Lindelof 5 – Fortunate for VAR to see Sadio Mane’s goal overturned for handball after a weak aerial challenge let the Senegalese in one-on-one. Poor effort to cut out Robertson’s cross for the equaliser.
Harry Maguire 9 – A rock from start to finish and not at fault for the equaliser. Kept Roberto Firmino quiet as Harry Maguire’s leadership at the back was a big, positive influence on our performance.
Marcos Rojo 7 – Drafted into the starting lineup at the last minute when Axel Tuanzebe picked up an injury in the warm-up. Marcos Rojo threw himself around to deny Liverpool chances, but terrible movement for the late goal.
Ashley Young 8 – Didn’t make any mistakes defensively and played some good balls up field to get us out of trouble. Ashley Young’s passes in behind for Marcus Rashford caused the Liverpool defence a few problems in a game of few chances.
Scott McTominay 7 – Combative in midfield to break up Liverpool’s possession in the middle of the park. Had a tame, 20-yard effort on goal. Scott McTominay’s passing was off colour today though.
Fred 7 – Worked hard, looked after the ball without being adventurous and sliced two efforts wide.
Andreas Pereira 9 – An excellent performance in the number 10 role; Andreas Pereira’s best game in a Manchester United shirt. The Brazilian had some success running at the Liverpool defence and played some nice balls in behind the defence. Caught in possession a few times but otherwise a very good day.
Daniel James 7 – Was very good on the ball and looked a threat in the final third without having a single shot all game. Daniel James produced an excellent cross from down the right wing to assist Rashford’s opener.
Marcus Rashford 8 – What a difference a rest makes. Marcus Rashford was back to his best after playing without fatigue this week. The striker’s movement caused the Liverpool defence a lot of problems. Scored a typical striker’s goal.
Anthony Martial (8 mins) N/A – Great to see Anthony back but he didn’t get a chance touch the ball in this one as we were trapped in our own half for the final 10 minutes and stoppage time.
Brandon Williams (1 min) N/A – Brought on in stoppage time to help run the clock down as Liverpool went in search of a winner.
