Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The draw ended Liverpool’s 17-game winning streak in the Premier League, whilst it was only good enough to move us up into 13th place.
During our pre-game warm up for Sunday’s game, Axel Tuanzebe picked up an injury that saw him miss the game. Marcos Rojo was drafted into the starting lineup and Phil Jones was then added to the substitutes bench.
We headed into the game with a number of first team regulars – Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard all sidelined, whilst Anthony Martial was back on the bench today after a lengthy layoff.
Speaking after the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave MUTV an injury update. The boss had no update on Tuanzebe, but was positive for Lingard and Shaw:
“I don’t know how Axel is but hopefully Jesse [Lingard] is back soon.
“Anthony will be able to play more.
“We’re going to have a test on Pogba tomorrow and see where he’s at and how long it’ll be until he’s back.
“Luke is not too long [away]. So, it’s looking brighter and that’s a big plus as well.”
Manchester United are next in action on Thursday when we travel to Serbia to take on Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League. We have taken a maximum six points from our first two games in Europe.
Then we go to Norwich City next Sunday in the Premier League.
It would be good to see Anthony Martial get a run out during the week as he looks to get his full match fitness back, whilst we could do with a few more defenders recovering from injury to give Ole more players available for rotation.
