Manchester United will make a move for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic in January, according to reports.
We have been linked to the experienced Croatian international in the past, as recently as this past summer.
Mandzukic is 33 now and has never played in England, so it would be considered a short-term option.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is currently getting a lack of goals out of his forwards following an injury to Anthony Martial. 18-year-old Mason Greenwood has been playing of late as a result.
It would certainly go against the Norwegian’s policy of signing young players and calling up players from the academy, but a player of Mario Mandzukic’s quality would certainly be welcome at Old Trafford.
According to Goal Italia, we are confident that Juventus will accept a £9 million bid from us and that the player would earn £4.4 million over a one-and-a-half year deal.
A player of Mandzukic’s quality and experience could certainly be useful for our young attackers’ development. However, it must be noted that the Juventus forward doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to getting on with his coaches. He has fallen out with Diego Simeone among others in the past.
Mario Mandzukic has not featured at all in any competitive game for Juventus so far this season as his time with the Italian champions appears to be over. Last season, he spent most of his playing time out on the left wing, when he usually prefers a central role.
