Confirmed lineups: Newcastle vs Man Utd

Manchester United travel to Newcastle United this evening in need of three points to move back into the top half of the Premier League.

We start Sunday’s game at St James’ Park down in 11th place but could move as high as 6th with three points.

Steve Bruce’s side start the day in the relegation zone with their 1-0 win away to Tottenham Hotspur back in audience the only time they’ve managed to pick up all three points so far this season.

The two teams for this afternoon’s game are as follows:

Manchester United

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Axel Tuanzebe, Harry Maguire, Ashley Young; Scott McTominay, Fred, Andreas Pereira; Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Daniel James

Substitutes: Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo, Brandon Williams, Nemanja Matic, Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong, Mason Greenwood

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer partners Axel Tuanzebe with Harry Maguire in the middle of our back four, with Victor Lindelof absent. Ashley Young is at left-back in place of the injured Luke Shaw.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka appears to be missing with illness for a third straight game, so Diogo Dalot is at right-back.

Juan Mata gets a rare start in which will appear to be on the right wing of a 4-3-3. Daniel James and Marcus Rashford will continue in attack also. Unfortunately, there is a start for Fred too.

Newcastle United

Martin Dubravka; DeAndre Yedlin, Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, Jetro Willems; Miguel Almiron, Matty Longstaff, Sean Longstaff, Allan Saint-Maximin; Joelinton

Substitutes: Karl Darlow, Paul Dummett, Emil Krafth, Jonjo Shelvey, Christian Atsu, Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll

Newcastle appear to be starting with a back five, with DeAndre Yedlin and Jetro Willems bombing on from the full-back roles. Fabian Schar likes to venture forward from centre-back too.

United summer transfer target Sean Longstaff will face us, alongside his brother, Matty, who is handed his full Premier League debut this afternoon.

Striker Joelinton hasn’t looked like much of a threat since his club record transfer from 1899 Hoffenheim over the summer, whilst Miguel Almiron has done little since he joined the Magpies in January.
