Williams handed full Man Utd debut

19-year-old Brandon Williams has been handed his full Manchester United debut in this evening’s UEFA Europa League tie away to AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands.

The full-back made his debut in our EFL Cup win over Rochdale as a substitute for the injured Phil Jones early in the second half at Old Trafford last month.

Williams had also been named among the substitutes for Monday’s 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League due to a large number of injuries to our defenders.

It appears that Brandon Williams will start at left-back this evening and Diogo Dalot on the right, with Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo the other defenders named by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

We will be looking to make it two wins from two in this competition but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rotated a number of players, with Sunday’s Premier League tie at Newcastle United in mind.

The starting lineup for this evening’s game is as follows:

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Brandon Williams; Fred, Nemanja Matic, Daniel James, Juan Mata, Angel Gomes; Mason Greenwood

Brandon Williams is one of three youth academy products and teenagers in our starting lineup this evening, alongside attackers Mason Greenwood and Angel Gomes.

This evening’s game will actually be played at ADO den Haag’s Cars Jeans Stadion as AZ’s stadium suffered damage earlier in the season.
