Manchester United let slip of a half-time lead to draw 1-1 against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night.
The result sees us end the weekend 10th in the Premier League, three points off the Champions League places after seven games.
Scott McTominay opened the scoring with a 20-yard strike that took a slight deflection on its way past Bernd Leno on its way into the net just before half-time.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang equalised just before the hour as neither team looked like scoring a winner in a below par performance from both sides in the pouring rain.
Here are my ratings from Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal:
David de Gea 7 – Wasn’t given much chance with a fine finish from Aubameyang whilst David de Gea wasn’t called into much action during the rest of the 90 minutes.
Ashley Young 7 – Buyako Saka was very lively down the wing but didn’t actually create much and only forced one save out of our goalkeeper. The teenager’s assist came from the middle of the pitch. Ashley Young was a surprise starter on the right but did fine defensively. Poor in possession though.
Victor Lindelof 8 – Solid in defence as Arsenal were reduced mostly to long-range efforts, whilst Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s only effort all game came from a defensive error that did not involve Victor Lindelof. The Swede made a couple of blocks too.
Harry Maguire 8 – Won his fair share of aerial duels, tested Bernd Leno from 20 yards and not at fault for the goal. Harry Maguire’s positioning was good.
Axel Tuanzebe 7 – A surprise starter at left-back considering he has been a right-back and centre-back coming through the ranks. However, Axel Tuanzebe kept Nicolas Pepe quiet all evening but his careless giveaway led to Arsenal’s equaliser. He had otherwise been composed on the ball.
Scott McTominay 8 – Won possession back for us a lot in front of the back four and scored his first goal at Old Trafford to give us the lead on the stroke of half-time. Perhaps too adventurous going forward given his role in the team, and did have a number of passes intercepted.
Paul Pogba 6 – Another quiet showing in a big game from Paul Pogba. Barely created anything and didn’t test the Arsenal goalkeeper once.
Andreas Pereira 6 – Looked keen to get on the scoresheet but rarely found the target from several efforts. Did create the odd chance too but was careless with the ball numerous times.
Jesse Lingard 5 – Was a quiet performance in the number 10 role from Jesse Lingard. Looked after the ball well in the few touches he had but created nothing and didn’t take a single shot.
Daniel James 5 – Disappointing that Daniel James rarely ran at Calum Chambers given that the Arsenal right-back was booked inside the opening 10 minutes. Created nothing down either wing and didn’t test Leno himself.
Marcus Rashford 7 – Made some decent runs off the ball but never found himself with the ball in a goalscoring position.
Fred (18 mins) N/A – Wasn’t on the pitch long but still enough time for Fred to make himself look poor. Not sure what his role is meant to be in this team but he doesn’t protect the back four very well, doesn’t create anything and this evening he didn’t even look after the ball very well.
Mason Greenwood (18 mins) N/A – Excited the see the teenager introduced on the eve of his 18th birthday but Mason Greenwood barely touched the ball as Arsenal had more of it in the final 20 minutes.
