Manchester United’s injury list has been piling up ahead of our Premier League clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday night.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken at his pre-match press conference today and has given a team news and injury update.
The boss told the press that Paul Pogba is a doubt despite playing against Rochdale in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night. Anthony Martial appears to be ruled out whilst Marcus Rashford is another serious doubt. Luke Shaw continues to be ruled out but is making progress on his recovery.
Centre-back Phil Jones played against the League One side during the week but picked up an injury that will rule him out for the next couple of weeks. Ole told MUTV:
”Phil will be out until after the international break and, do you know, you have to count these after every game but I think that’s it.”
Anthony Martial made a bright start in our opening three games of the season but has been sidelined for the last three. The French international won’t be back until the second half of October:
“I don’t think we’ll see Anthony before the international break. No, I don’t think so. Luke is improving so, hopefully, we’ll see him.”
When asked whether Marcus Rashford would face Arsenal, Ole didn’t rule out the striker but didn’t convince us that he would be back:
“Well, I wouldn’t put my life on it, no, but that’s part of this game. You work with what you have and we’re looking forward to this game, of course.”
Diogo Dalot and Angel Gomes are two further injuries but neither would have been expected to start on Monday night. They are joined by Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah completing a lengthy injury list.
