Manchester United have been handed a home tie against Rochdale in the third round of this season’s Carabao Cup.
The League One side knocked out Carlisle United on Tuesday night to reach this stage of the competition for the first time since 2011.
Rochdale will be in action at Old Trafford on either Tuesday 24 or Wednesday 25 September. Given that we are in Premier League action against West Ham United on Sunday 22 September, one would expect it will be the latter of those two dates.
Manchester United are five-time champions of this competition, last winning it in a thrilling 3-2 final against Southampton at Wembley Stadium. United fans will remember Zlatan Ibrahimovic scoring a brace that day, including a free kick.
We are back in action this Saturday when we travel to the south coast to face Southampton at St Mary’s in the 12:30 televised game. Three points are in demand after being humiliated at home by Crystal Palace last weekend.
