Deal Almost Agreed: Man Utd eye summer move for €70,000-weekly Roma star worth €36 million

According to reports, Manchester United could sign AS Roma defender Kostas Manolas for a major bargain fee this coming summer.
United have been in the market for major reinforcements at the back for about 12 months, and the Serie A star has been linked with a move along with Napoli centre-half Kalidou Koulibaly and Tottenham central defender Toby Alderweireld.

As per Italian publication Calciomercato, Greek international is likely to want to leave Rome when the season end if they fail to finish in a Champions League spot.

They presently occupy the fifth spot – four points adrift Gennaro Gattuso let AC Milan in the last Champions League spot, and just 2 points above sixth-placed Lazio, who have a game not played.

The story also suggests Manolas would be available for transfer just €36 million due to a release clause in his contract.

However, if he was to depart AS Roma because of a lack of Champions League football next term, then the Red Devils would have to seal a Premier League Top 4 finish for themselves to have the opportunity of signing the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile, despite speculations linking Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale with a switch to Ole Gunnar Solskjer’s team in the summer, popular sports TV channel ESPN claim that the Wales international winger is not a target.

The report suggest the 20-time English champions will not offer to sign the 29-year-old ex-Tottenham Hotspur Superstar, even if the Real Madrid misfit becomes available for summer transfer as the English side prioritise younger players and emerging starlets
