ALMOST DONE: Man United make last minute move to sign 27-year-old Roma star

According to reports emanating from Spain, Premier League giant Manchester United are closing in on a deal for AS Roma star Kostas Manolas.

The 27-year-old defender has a £30.75million buy out clause in his deal but it does not become active until end of season and the Red Devil are not willing to risk losing him at the end of the campaign.

Manchester United’s failure to reinforce at central defence last summer infuriated former boss Jose Mourinho and the Portuguese tactician essentially wrote off the chances of Man United this term with their present crop of defenders.

The Red Devils had shown interested in Porto star Eder Militao but Marca suggest Man United are close to signing him instead.

While no transfer fee is specified, Manchester United’s decision to go for the Greek international defender is seen as a very positive for Real Madrid’s chase of Militao.

Manchester United are yet to name a permanent successor for manager Jose Mourinho but have consulted interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the side’s targets.

United’s 32 goals in only 21 league matches this season – though only two of those have come in the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s four Premier League games at the side.
The Premier League giant Manchester United have been in incredible form since the Norwegian boss took charge at Old Trafford since the sack of former Real Madrid and Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho last month. The team have won 6 matches in 6 games since that time and are looking pretty good to make top-four at the end of the season.
