According to reports, 20-time English champions Manchester United have opened discussions over a surprise move for FC Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho.
The Brazil international midfielder only joined the Catalan club last calendar year but is generally reported to be extremely unsettled after a lack of major impact since his huge-money transfer from Merseyside club Liverpool.
Premier League side Liverpool have been connected with a transfer to re-sign Philippe Coutinho, but reports claim other big teams have been placed on red alert.
European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City and are among clubs interested in the former Liverpool man should he leave Barcelona.
However, wide spread report suggest the Red Devils have moved to overtake their rivals by making contact early enough with the Catalan giant with an enquiry about the 26-year-old.
It remains to be known if the Barcelona star would be set to make a bid to a severe rival like Manchester United, possibly destroying his high reputation at Liverpool forever.
Still, it’s rather easy to see why United are keen on Coutinho, who was a world class player during his time in England, and who could make a perfect replacement for the struggling Chilean international Alexis Sanchez.
It is expected that the attacking midfielder would cost about £100million to bring back to the Premier League.
The South American playmaker could also be a top class addition for former Premier League champions Chelsea as they face losing Belgium international attacker Eden Hazard to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the nearest future, while the attacker could also be a good fit for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
