Napoli centre half Kalidou Koulibaly has been putting in some spectacular displays for the Italian club – and English Premier League heavyweight Manchester United have surely noticed.
Kalidou Koulibaly was always said to be the number one transfer target for former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho but the Italian club were looking for about £90 million for the strong Senegal international defender.
But now, that transfer interest seems to have carried over to interim manager Norwegian tactician Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and more vitally, club Executive Vice-chairman holds the transfer strings, Ed Woodward.
At just 27-year-old and with high pedigree in European club football, top defender Kalidou Koulibaly should be only the man the 20-time English champions need to reinforce their defence.
And bookmakers agree. They state the star player looks ready for a prepare transfer to Manchester United in the winter transfer market.
The bookmakers rate the Napoli defender’s odds of making Manchester United his next team of call at only a 2/1 shot – a little shorter than they have ever been.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes bookmaker said: “(Ole Gunnar) Solskjaer may well be trusted with a huge transfer budget in January and the odds report (Kalidou) Koulibaly’s the first player who will move to Manchester.”
Reports also claim the Red Devils remain locked in talks with Fiorentina centre-half Nikola Milenkovic, just incase they fail in there bid to land the Napoli defender this January.
The central defender has been closely monitored by Manchester United scouts on several occasions this season, while former United manager Jose Mourinho was also on the stands for the player’s country Serbia’s clash with Montenegro back in October.
