According to wide spread media reports, Premier League side Manchester United are set to reignite their interest in centre-half Diego Godin.
The Daily Mirror notes unnamed media reports in Spain that claim Manchester United are set to revive their interest in the 32-year-old Atletico Madrid star to help end their defensive troubles.
The same report claim that the La Liga side are looking to seal Godin’s long-term career with a new deal but interest from Old Trafford could complicate talks.
The Spanish league winner will become free agent at the conclusion of the 2018-19 campaign when his existing Atletico Madrid deal runs out.
Diego Godin turned down the Red Devils last summer transfer window but Daily Mirror correspondent John Cross feels Manchester United remain determined to lure the Uruguay international to Old Trafford.
The report goes on to state that the 20-time English topflight champions are closely monitoring the player’s talks with the La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and are set to follow up on their interest.
The Premier League giants have conceded 21 goals in 12 matches in the English Premier League in the ongoing season – only Fulham, Cardiff City, Burnley and Huddersfield Town have conceded more goals.
The Daily Mirror also add that Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho remains keen on landing experienced Chelsea centre-half Gary Cahill on a temporary deal in the winter transfer window.
The 32-year-old Chelsea captain has played just 19 minutes in the English Premier League under Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri this term to raise questions about his immediate future at Stamford Bridge.
