Premier League giants Manchester United have joined La Liga star FC Barcelona in the running to land Juventus star Joao Cancelo.
The Portuguese defender arrived at the Serie A club from La Liga side Valencia last season after a one-year stint at Inter Milan. The San Siro failed to make his transfer permanent, and their rivals managed to seal the signing for a transfer fee close to about €40 million.
The deal was sealed thanks to the good work of agent Jorge Mendes who, a few weeks after, transacted another one of his top players, Cristiano Ronaldo, to Turin.
Manchester United had also been connected with landing the right-back before he signed for the Italian giants and now English Premier League sides are thought to have reignite their interest in the super-talented full-back who is a long-term transfer target of former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho.
Italian Serie A champions Juventus, however, are not ready to offload their 24-year-old right-back nor in the New Year nor at the conclusion of the campaign.
Joao Cancelo’s colleague Alex Sandro, however, could depart the Old Lady of Italian football at the end of the campaign as he has not decided to pen a contract extension with the side with his current deal that runs out in 2020 and Italian club could be forced to offload him this campaign.
Similarly, the Turin giant are keen on luring Manchester United star David De Gea to Turin and are set to make the safe hand the second highest paid footballer at the side behind Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo.
