According to British media reports, Manchester United are ready to ‘cough out’ £60m fee to land Harry Maguire from former Champions Leicester City in the winter transfer window.
The Sun is claiming that United are ready to spend huge to try and lure the 25-year-old to Old Trafford in January as manager Jose Mourinho looks to reinforce his backline.
The Red Devils were strongly connected with the Leicester City man in the summer window, but a switch failed to happen and the centre-half penned a new five-year deal with the Foxes in September.
However, the same report claim that the Red devils are now set to “test” City’s resolve once more with a new approach when the winter transfer window opens in the New Year.
The story suggest that United would be willing to double the defender’s current pay of £75,000-weekly.
He has netted two goals and was cautioned three times in 10 Premier League matches for Leicester so far this campaign.
The Red devils were strongly linked with defensive reinforcements in the summer transfer window but United did not bring in a fresh central defender.
Mourinho’s squad have made a stuttering Premier League start, and that will possibly lead to plenty of rumour about potential new signings in January.
It is suggested in the same report that the Red Devils “believe” that they can clinch the acquisition of Maguire for about £60million, which would make the defender the World’s second-most expensive defender.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils will return to English Premier League duty on Saturday when they visit AFC Bournemouth in Saturday’s early kick-off.
