Premier League giants Manchester United have received a major transfer boost in their chase for one of FC Barcelona’s superstars – Spaniard Jordi Alba, the La Liga side have failed to meet the players demands for a fresh deal.
As per a report from Spanish publication Sport, the Catalan club have so far failed in their bid to tie down the defender to a new deal with Alba’s agent not ready to budge if their high asking fees aren’t met by the Spanish club.
The Left-back’s current contract is set to run out in the summer of 2020.
It is widely believed that after some preliminary contract negotiations the Catalan side have taken a firm decision with the players agent and are allegedly not open to ‘bending to the stance of the defender’.
Despite some issues in agreeing a fresh deal, the La Liga club Chief still remain interested in continuing talks with the 29-year-old defender but at the end of the campaign.
This leaves the transfer door open for Premier League side Manchester United – who have been interested in the services of the marauding left full-back – free to make a swoop for the Spain international in the winter transfer window.
The Spaniard’s buyout cause stands at about £133million and should the Red Devils poor run linger, United could well be under pressure into making big profile acquisition in the coming months.
Jordi Alba has so far displayed that the uncertainty surrounding his playing future at Barcelona will not affect his on-field performances.
