According to widespread media reports, Premier League giants Manchester United are allegedly all prepared to confirm the acquisition of ex Newcastle United shot-stopper Paul Woolston on a free move on Friday.
The 20-year-old has formerly been on a trial with United, and it looks as though the goalie has done just enough to earn himself a permanent deal.
As per a report by the Manchester Evening News, the goalkeeper will sign a contract which will keep him at Old Trafford until the end of the current campaign, and so he’ll be very much keen to prove his worth in the next couple of months to eventually pen a long-term deal.
The Red Devils seemingly do have a lot of options in that position but have sent out a lot of their young goalkeepers on loan.
In turn, the goalie could get an opportunity to impress between now and the finish of the campaign at youth level, but only time will tell if Paul is capable of getting a long-term contract firstly, and then possibly making his mark to earn the Jose Mourinho’s attention in the long-term and become a key part of United’s senior team.
The Magpies decided to release the safe hand at the end of last campaign as Rob Elliot, Freddie Woodman and Karl Darlow, were all ahead of the United trialist in the pecking order at Newcastle United.
For now though, media reports would claim that the starlet’s all set for an official unveiling to confirm his stay at Old Trafford.
