Some players of Premier League giants Manchester United refused to attend a commercial event yesterday, in protest of the side’s poor travel plans.
Manchester United were late to arrive their home ground – Old Trafford on Tuesday evening, for their 1-0 UEFA Champions League loss to Serie A champions Juventus, that has former United star Cristiano Ronaldo in their team, and some members of the team feel the clubs poor travel plans affected their on-field display against the Turin giant.
Each member of the Red Devils team is expected to attend a specific amount of sponsorship events in a year, but some set of players, amounting to about five players failed to show up for the Thursday event, quoting ‘transport issues’ as a major excuse, according to the Daily Mail.
France international midfielder Paul Pogba, England international forward Marcus Rashford, summer signing Lee Grant and star midfielder Ashley Young attended a different sponsorship event later on the same day, to promote Manchester United’s ‘True Religion’ release on its launch evening.
However, another disgruntled set of players were expected at Manchester United’s training ground but they also refused to show up.
