Manchester United forward Anthony Martial claim things are ‘not tense’ with manager Jose Mourinho and hopes the two will continue to give the club their best.
A lot has been reported about the duo’s relationship since the Portuguese tactician took over as head coach at the Manchester club nearly 18 months ago and the France international attacker’s future again made the front pages in the summer.
It all began when his agent, Philippe Lamboley, disclosed that his client wanted to depart Old Trafford in the month of June after he struggled for consistency following the arrival of Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez mid-season.
United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, wasn’t going to take any of that as he was desperately keen to keep the gifted player at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho, however, felt a bit different considering all that happened on the club’s pre-season tour.
Understandably, Anthony martial took some time to go back to the City of Paris to be with his wife for the birth of their Child, Swan, but his tactician felt the forward ‘should be with the team’ after an elongated period in France.
After a rather average start to the new campaign, the attacker has returned to impressive form recently after ending over eight-month scoreless run against Young Boys.
Since then, he has found the net on three occasions in 4 starts, including the equalizing goal in the win against Newcastle United and two good goals in Manchester United’s 2-all draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Martial confirmed top reporters in a recent interview that things were not tense between himself and Jose.
He stressed that they both have a player-coach relationship and hopes that it will continue like that for the good of the club.
