Manchester United legend Patrice Evra has made a shock return to Premier League by signing for West Ham United.
This is was made known by West Ham Official website that the 36-year old left-back had sign for the club for the remaining part of the season and had be given number 27 jersey.
West Ham move for Evra is due to lack of competition in the Hammers left-back.
The Hammers first choice left-back Arthur Masuaku is currently serving a six-game suspension for spitting at an opponent.
Evra contract with Marseille got terminated last year November after he was caught kicking out a fan prior to a Europa League game last November.
Evra expressed his delight for the new challenge ahead of him when he said:
“I’m really happy to be a Hammer, to be back in the Premier League and I love this game!” said the Evra.
“It’s amazing to be back and I am thankful to West Ham for giving me the opportunity to do my job. When I wake up and know I am going to work hard, to have fun with my teammates and give my best on the pitch, I want to say a massive thanks to West Ham, to the Chairman, to the manager to all my teammates, who have given me a nice welcome, my agent and my brother.
“I’m just happy to be here, it’s really simple. You don’t realise how lucky you are and just to wake up this morning and know I am going to train with my new teammates made me smile!”
The experienced defender spent nine seasons with United winning five Premier League title, One Champions League, three League Cup, Five Community Shield and One Club World Cup.
The French star will now reunite with his former boss David Moyes who he once had a bizarre argument with during their time at Old Trafford. West Ham are currently battling against relegation back to the Football League.
