England international defender Luke Shaw is set to be offered a new bumper contract as Old Trafford.
According to report from Daily Star, Manchester United are set to offer Shaw a new long term contract with a higher weekly package.
This decision comes as a shock to most fans given that Jose Mourinho was earlier desperate to part ways with the 22-year old at Old Trafford.
Mourinho has publicly criticized the England star for his fitness and performances and the defender looked to be heading out of the Theatre of dream in January.
The Portuguese tactician had always looked forward to replacing Shaw with the likes of Tottenham star Danny Rose and Juventus’s Alex Sandro.
Shaw joined the United in 2014 from Southampton in a £30million fee. He signed a four-year contract with an option to extend for a further year.
United have exercise the one-year-option clause in his contract which means he has 18 months left on his contract.
However, United are willing to tie him down with a longer deal after a resurgence performances.
The talented defender has been limited to fewer games since his move to United due to persistent injury problem.
Although he has regained his full fitness, he is still behind makeshift left-back Ashley Young in Mourinho’s team.
The £80,000-a-week star has started five of the last seven Premier League games for the Red Devils.
