Monaco defensive midfielder Fabinho has emerged as a target for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
According to Daily Star, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reveals Jose Mourinho is making plans to bring Fabinho to Old Trafford next summer.
The highly versatile midfielder was close to joining the Red Devils last summer but Mourinho opted to sign his former player Nemanja Matic from Chelsea.
Although the former Chelsea star has been a regular for United this season, Mourinho still wants to sign Fabinho to strengthen his midfield.
United captain Michael Carrick is set to hang his boot at the end of the season after spending 12 successful seasons at the theatre of dream.
The 24-year old Brazilian played a key role in Monaco team that won the Ligue One title last season and has also been a regular this season making 33 appearances and finding the back of the net five times in all competition.
Speaking in recent interview, the £45m rated player reveals his time at Monaco could be coming to an end as he seeks for a new challenge.
“My time with Monaco was good, but I feel my time here is coming to an end,” Said Fabinho.
“I know that that the club’s vision is to try to finish second and qualify for the Champions League, without counting on big-name players, but on young players.
“I believe I have gone through this process.
“I arrived as an unknown, I made my name at the club, won things — but maybe I need a new challenge.”
