Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovicn could make a shock move to Stamford Bridge before Wednesday transfer deadline closes.
This is the word of pundit Andy Gray, who believes a switch to Chelsea could be good for both clubs and the player.
Chelsea are currently in the market for a striker that will serve as back-up to misfiring Spaniard Alvaro Morata.
The Blues have been linked to numerous strikers including Eden Dzeko, Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch and Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud in recent weeks.
Zlatan has played a bit role for United this season due to injury problems.
The former PSG forward has only managed seven appearances in all competition for United and finding the back of the net once.
Gray thinks a move to Chelsea could favour both teams as Jose Mourinho has reveals he will not stand in the forward way if he wants to leave Old Trafford for other another club.
“He’s 36 years old, he’s had a long-term injury, he’s not really going to be a regular in Manchester United’s starting XI,” he said.
“I think when you come to the end of your career, which obviously Zlatan is at the age of 36, I don’t know how long he is going to go on for, but doesn’t that sound like the perfect move?
“Exactly what Chelsea need but his name has not come up.
“Is that because Manchester United don’t sell to their rivals?
“We have to get to a point where we think ‘well this guy’s 36 years of age, he wants to play, he wants to go out on a high’.
“I’m sure if the speculation started, it hasn’t started yet, then it could happen.”
The forward is expected to return back to full training next week and a move to Chelsea could give the goal poacher play time.
It’s yet to be seen if Chelsea will consider Gray’s opinion and sanction move for the 36-year old star.
