Alexis Sanchez has been making the headline in the English media over the weekend and up till now, nobody can actually tell his next destination with Manchester United and Manchester City keen on his signature.
The Chile international contract at Emirate stadium expires next summer and the forward has rejected offers to stay beyond this season.
It is though that Arsenal’s lack of major silverware such as Premier League and the Champions League titles are the main reasons the 29-year old forward wants to leave Emirate.
Arsenal haven’t won the league title since 2004 and they are currently 6th on the league table.
The failed to qualify for Champions League football last season and that could be the same this season should things remain the same.
It is believed the former Barcelona forward no longer believes in Arsenal’s fate to win major tournament and as a result he wants a switch from Emirate stadium.
Manchester City team are a team to beat this term. The Citizens are leading the league table with 15 points above second place Manchester United.
Although they suffered a shock defeat to Liverpool at Anfield yesterday, they are still clear favourite to win the league title as well as a major contender for the UEFA Champions League trophy.
If Sanchez really wants to win the Premier League title sooner than later, Etihad Stadium will be the perfect place to switch to.
He has worked with Pep Guadiola before at Camp Nou and wouldn’t find any difficult adapt to the Spaniard tactician style of play.
Former Manchester City Goalie Shay Given also believes a move to Etihad would be the best for Sanchez if he really wants to win the Premier League anytime soon.
He said on Sky Sports: “For me, it would be a no-brainer.
“If it was me, I’d be joining Man City because they are likely to win the Premier League this season, maybe could win Champions League.
“Man Utd are quite a few points adrift at the moment in second.
“As a player at the end of your career you judge yourself on trophies won and he’s got a better chance at City than at Man Utd.”
Sanchez was left out of Arsenal’s squad for yesterday’s shock 2-1 defeat at Bournemouth.
Boss Arsene Wenger said after the game that the Chilean’s future will be finalised in the next 48 hours.
“I don’t master the rhythm of it, but it could happen today, tomorrow or not at all,” said Wenger.
“It will be decided in the next 48 hours.”
