Napoli and Algeria international left-back Faouzi Ghoulam has emerged as a prime target for Manchester United in January transfer window.
According to Metro, Jose Mourinho is weighing up a move for the talented defender as he seeks to strengthen his defense.
Ghoulam who signed a new contract with the Serie A club last season has a £53m release clause on his contract and Napoli are on the verge of securing his replacement.
Report according to Portuguese publication Record as reported by the Metro claims that Benfica Alejandro Grimaldo is the player the Serie A club wants to replace United bound Ghoulam.
Converted winger Ashley young is currently Jose Mourinho first choice at the left back, but his age is a concern for the Portuguese manager.
He is building for the future and as a result he wants a young and a left footed defender to strengthen his left-back position.
Ghoulam, age 26 joined Napoli in 2014 from Saint-Etieenne and had made over 150 appearances for the club.
Reports also have it that both Chelsea and Liverpool are also in the race for the African star but it all seems United have won the race.
