Manchester United manager Jose Mourinhop has reported told club chief Ed Woodward to sanction move for Paris Saint German star Lucas Moura this January.
Manchester City are currently 15 points ahead of United in the league table and Mourinho wants to strengthen his squad in order to bridge the gap in the second half of the season.
The Portuguese tactician has targeted the Brazilian star and wants him at Old Trafford before February 1st.
The 25-year old star has fallen out of favour in Unai Emery squad having made just five substitute appearances in the League 1 matches this season.
It is believed the Red Devils wants a loan for the South American attacking midfielder/winger but the Paris club are hoping to cash in on Moura by selling him in a permanent deal.
PSG are demanding £40m from any suitor for Moura services, who has attracted interest from Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan.
Moura joined the Ligue 1 giants in in 2012 in a club record fee of £38m from Bazilian club Sao Paulo.
Since his switch to France capital, the South American star has helped Ligue 1 club won four league title.
