Jose Mourinho is facing an uphill task to turn the fortune of the club around after falling 11 points behind league leaders Manchester City.
Winter transfer window is around the corner and the Portuguese tactician is poised to recruit new signing in order to catch up with City and fight for European title.
According to Metro, former Chelsea player/ manager Ray Wikins has told Mourinho to make Juventus attacking midfielder Paulo Dybala his January prime target.
The South American star has been linked with a £155million move to Old Trafford and he recently admitted he couldn’t promise he’d remain at Juventus for the rest of his career.
The 23-year-old star has been on a sparkling form for the Serie A club this season. He has found the back of the net 12 times while also providing three assists in just 12 starts for the Old Lady.
Speaking to Sporting Bet, Wilkins believes signing Dybala could be the solution to turn United season around.
‘If United sign him, good grief City will have to watch out,’ he told Sporting Bet.
‘He’s one of those skilful South American players that will light up the Premier League.
‘If I was a head of scouting for a top six club, I would tell them to go to South America to scout small, skilful centre-forwards because these guys are becoming world class players – like Dybala.
‘He’s a magical footballer, works hard on and off the pitch and would be a credit to the Premier League.’
A move for Dybala half way through the season seems impossible as Juventus wouldn’t want to lose their informed player.
However, United chief Ed Woodward could make offer to sign the sensational Argentine next summer.
