Manchester United January target Mesut Ozil is set to remain at Emirate stadium after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed talks are underway with German over a new contact at the club.
Jose Mourinho has been making plan to have a reunion with his former player at Old Trafford in the second half of the season.
Ozil contract with Arsenal expires next summer and the Germany international has refused to sign a new contract, meaning he would be allowed to talk with other clubs when the transfer window reopens in January.
Speaking a press briefing, Wenger said
“Negotiations are always going on with everybody. Our door is always open.
“For the rest, I can not tell you much more.”
The sensational midfielder is also a target for La Liga giants Barcelona.
The former Real Madrid man has found the back of the net twice and provided five assists in 13 Premier League appearances this term.
Jose Mourinho is facing a similar situation with Marouane Fellaini at Old Trafford. The Belgian has refused to renew his contract and could leave as a free agent in summer with Paris Saint-Germain and Besiktas keen on his signature.
On Alexis Sanchez contract situation, Wenger said:
“I don’t want to talk about that because the best way to deal with this kind of thing is to keep it as discreet as possible.”
