Germany International Linked To Man Utd – Ed Woodward To Sanction Move In January

Manchester United search for a permanent left-back seems to have intensified with reports in the English media claiming Luke Shaw has demanded a £5million pay off to exit Old Trafford in January

Report according to Daily Mail claims that United have enter the race to sign Augsburg left-back Philipp Max in January.

The Left-back position has been a problem for Jose Mourinho since his arrival at Old Trafford in 2016 as he has converted England winger Ashley Young into a makeshift full-back this season.

Although young has been impressive, but report has it that Mourinho now wants a natural full back like Max and would inform the club chief Ed Woodward to sanction move for his services in January.

Max has been on a sparkling form for the Bundesliga side this season, having scored one goal and provided eight assists from the left-back position.

With Mourinho switching his formation from a 4-2-3-1 to 3-4-3 this season, he will certainly need a flexible left-back like Max, who can get forward and support his attacking teammates.

The 24-year old Germany international was part of the Germany’s 2016 Olympic team that won a silver medal at Brazil and has been touted for a place in Germany’s World Cup squad owing to his excellent performances.

However, United will have to battle the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham for Max services as both English clubs are monitoring the German progress.
