Young and promising Ligue 1 striker James Lea Siliki has lifted the lid on his ‘obsession’ with Manchester United while growing up during Sir Alex Ferguson reign at Old Trafford.
The 21-year old forward is being tipped for big things after making his first senior debut for Rennes last season.
The former Paris Saint-Germain youngster joined Rennes in 2014 from Guingamp.
Siliki, a Cameroonian descent dreamt of Old Trafford while growing up and revealed his vast knowledge of United legends.
In an interview with Quest France, the ex-France Under-19 star reveals his obsession with the Red Devils when he said:
‘When I was younger, in my head, I dreamt of big games.
‘I’m a professional footballer; it’s an obsession ever since I could understand. I dreamt of Manchester United, of their stadium, of their colours.
‘I grew up with the Ferguson years, the Boxing Day games on Canal +, the 95th minute win.’
The talented star also listed the Red Devils legends who stood out in his memory.
‘I grew up with the Yorke-Cole partnership,’ he continued.
‘Mikael Silvestre, Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney, Ronaldo…Ryan Giggs was a monument until the very end.’
The promising forward has his best years ahead of him and it’s yet to be seen if Jose Mourinho will try to lure the forward to Old Trafford.
