Pep Guardiola made a surprised starting eleven squad over the weekend when he included France international defender Eliaquim Mangala in his starting eleven against West Ham.
Before yesterday 2-1 victory over the Hammers, Mangala has only made three league appearances for the Citizens this season all coming from the substitute bench.
His inclusion in the starting spot was a surprise to many fans given that Captain Vincent Kompany was fit but left out on the bench.
Mangala inclusion in such a high profile match could mean that Guardiola now rates him over Kompany and could feature in Manchester City derby game against the Red Devils next weekend.
Mangala seems to have suffered an injury when he was embarrassed by Marko Arnautovic during the course of the game.
Guadiola, however failed to bring out the former Porto star as he had already made his three changes.
Should it be that the French star is injured, he could miss Manchester City next game against arch rival Manchester United.
The Citizen are still leading the league table with eight points above second place Manchester United and 10 points above defending champions Chelsea.
Manchester United on the other hand will be without their powerful midfielder Paul Pogba after he saw red card for a challenge on Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin.
