Deal Agreed, Work Permit In Progress As Man United Is Set To Complete Another Signing

With Antonio Valencia not getting younger and none of our right backs reliable, it is obvious that Manchester United could do with the signing of a right back this summer. No disrespect to Timothy Fosu-Mensah but the fact is he is not a right back that a team that wants to win the title should be banking on.

And if you believe reports from the French media, it appears Mourinho has accepted this fact and is already working on signing a truly reliable right back to take over from or compete with Valencia for a first team berth. According to a report by Paris United ( as relayed by The Sun), the Red devils have an agreement in place for the signing of PSG star Sergie Aurier.

The Ivorien was linked with a move to Arsenal a couple of years ago but ended up signing for PSG but the arrival of former Barca star Dani Alves from Juventus means he is no longer the preferred first choice option in the right back position and is likely to be sold should the right offer be made for his services.

According to the report, the deal has practically been agreed between the player, Manchester United and PSG and the only thing stopping the deal is getting a work permit for the Ivorien. Although Sergie Aurier qualifies for a work permit unfortunately he has a case pending in court. He was sometimes last year banned from entering the UK because of an alleged case of assault. This means unless he wins the court case, United will not be able to sign him.

But if it is true that United have agreed personal terms with him and are ready to pay what PSG wants for him, it could be that United and PSG are sure the African will win his court case and will be allowed to sign for United.

Whatever the case may be, signing Aurier will be massive for us. At just 22, he has his best years ahead of him and his signing will really not impair the development of Timothy Fosu-Mensah in that Valencia will soon have to leave the club due to age.
