Manchester United Odds On To Sign £42.5m Rated World Cup Winner

Manchester United fans and many pundits the world over are of the opinion that Manchester United could do with a creative midfielder. Although Zlatan has been very prolific so far this season, it is widely believed that the Red Devils could do better if they had a very good creative midfielder to create chances for the forwards.

And to this end, there are reports Arsenal star Mesut Ozil who Mourinho has confirmed on a number of occasions that he is a big fan of is likely to be on his way to Old Trafford at the end of the current season. Could this be Manchester United’s Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe? The former Real Madrid and Werder Bremen star is nearing the end of his contract with Arsenal and unless he and the club are able to reach an agreement in the next few weeks, he could be sold in the summer or leave on a free transfer in 2018.

Betting company Ladbrokes however seem to be privy to some insider information and have shortened the odds of the German joining Manchester United this summer. The world cup winner was just days ago priced at 4/1 to join Manchester United but that odd is now 6/4.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes was quoted as saying; “The odds of Ozil reuniting with Mourinho are shortening by the minute, regardless of United’s Champions League prospects. If for whatever reason the German snubs Manchester, the rest of the list represents a who’s who of top European clubs.”

The signing of Ozil, if it happens, will be a massive boost for Manchester United. His ability to create chances upon chances will benefit the Red Devils and with he and Mourinho knowing each other well from their days together at Real Madrid, bedding him shouldn’t be difficult.

It however remains to be seen if Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger ( if he remains their manager beyond this season ) will be willing to sell the German to Jose Mourinho or if Arsenal will entertain he even signing for a rival.

Bayern Munich ( 3/1 ), his former club Real Madrid (4/1), PSG (7/1), Juventus ( 8/1 ) and Barca (10/1 ) are some of the other clubs with short odds of signing Mesut Ozil.

Ozil is currently Arsenal’s fourth highest goalscorer with 9 goals behind Alexis Sanchez (18 goals ) who himself could be leaving Arsenal in the summer having refused to extend his deal which expires in 18 months time ( same time as Ozil ) and Theo Walcott who is currently on 10 goals.
