Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has stated his belief that Paul Pogba has become more comfortable at the middle of the park in recent matches.
Paul Pogba made a return to Manchester United amid much fanfare and the hype surrounding his arrival to Old Trafford was most certainly understandable.
After all, United had splashed a club record fee of around £89 million to secure the services of Pogba from Juventus but more notably, the Red Devils landed the services of arguably one of the best midfielders in the world.
As it has turned out, Pogba has not managed to justify the hype or his huge price tag after putting in a number of underwhelming displays this season. The Frenchman has been unable to inspire United to becoming the force they were a few years ago.
However, Pogba has certainly managed to deliver improved performances over the past few weeks. He enjoyed good outings against Swansea City, as well as Arsenal last weekend.
Time To Adapt
United boss Jose Mourinho is extremely pleased with Pogba’s performances in recent times. He believes the 23-year-old’s improvement comes as he adapts to life at Old Trafford.
“Pogba is adapting much better in relationships, with the intensity of the competition and he’s much more confident.
“Obviously he plays with some guidelines over his position, but at the same time with some freedom to occupy some attacking areas where he feels and thinks he can be important. He’s comfortable on the pitch. That’s the best way of saying it.”
Pogba was always going to be under the microscope and some of the criticism he receives is unwarranted. There is, however, no doubt that he will eventually come good for United.
