Manchester United fans have hailed the performance of Juan Mata during the 1-1 draw against Arsenal over the weekend.
While Manchester United have clearly gone through a very difficult phase since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson as manager, one of the few silver linings for the fans to look back upon has been the performances of attacking midfielder Juan Mata.
Mata arrived at United from Chelsea during the January transfer window of 2014 and has since managed to establish himself as a key figure in the Red Devils’ side.
Despite his fine performances, there were concerns that Mata could well be sold this summer following the arrival of Jose Mourinho as manager at Old Trafford due to the fact that it was the Portuguese manager who dispensed with the services of the attacking midfielder from Chelsea.
As it has turned out though, Mata has managed to establish himself as a key figure under Mourinho as well and the Spaniard arguably enjoyed his best performance of the season during the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Old Trafford during the weekend.
United dominated majority of the match and one of the main factors behind this was the performance of Mata, who dictated the game and enjoyed a passing success rate of 86%. In addition, Mata was the one who managed to give United the lead with a well taken goal in the first half and the 28-year-old certainly deserved to be on the winning side.
Nonetheless, United fans were very appreciative of Mata’s display against Arsenal and they took to social media website, Twitter, to express their delight over the former Valencia star’s performance with some even claiming that he is better than Arsenal superstar Mesut Ozil.
