Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is reportedly willing to match Memphis Depay’s wage demands in an attempt to lure him away from Manchester United.
Memphis who has barely featured under Mourinho so far this season has been heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park for some time now and with Ronald Koeman recently admitting that he is a fan of Memphis a move for the Dutchman could take place in the January transfer window.
According the English tabloid newspaper the Times Moshiri is willing to match Memphis annual salary of £5.2 Million pounds and is ready to hand the Toffees up to twenty million pounds in a bid to land the winger. The player according to reports earns £90,000 a week with Manchester United currently.
The Dutchman only joined United from PSV Einthoven last summer but has since struggled to make any real impact at Old Trafford.
Few if any can deny just how talented of a player Memphis is but with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Ashley Young all now seemingly ahead of the Dutchman in the pecking order at Old Trafford he will undoubtedly find game time hard to come by and in joining Everton, he will get the opportunity to play regular first team football something which he hasn’t had so far at Old Trafford this season.
Memphis remains one of the most exciting young prospects in European football and is a player who could potentially fire Everton into the top four should he make the move in January. Koeman has the building blocks of a very good side at Goodison Park and in playing under his fellow Dutchman Memphis would not only get the chance to develop as a footballer but would get the chance to mature as a man also.
A move away from Old Trafford could be the best for both the player and Manchester United.
