Manchester United winger Memphis Depay has refused to rule out leaving Old Trafford in the January transfer window.
Memphis who has recently been linked with a switch to Everton has barely featured under Mourinho so far this season and has been left out of each of the last two match day squads by the Portuguese.
The Dutchman showed a timely reminder to his new boss of his talent scoring twice in the Netherlands 3-1 victory over Luxembourg at the weekend.
Speaking to the press after the game the £90,000 a week star refused to rule out leaving United in January and admitted that he has been frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities he has had this season under Mourinho.
“I do not know, we’ll have to see,” he said of a possible move. “I focus on United, I do my very best to be able to get minutes.
“I’m going back to United with a good feeling, because I have got minutes here and we won. That is the most important thing.”
Memphis only joined the Red Devils from PSV Einthoven last summer under former United head coach Louis Van Gaal but has since struggled to make any real impact at Old Trafford.
Few if any can deny just how potentially great a player Memphis could be but with the Dutchman now seemingly way down the pecking order at the club, he will ultimately not be given a proper chance to showcase his talent. And he can’t really blame Mourinho or the club for it. It is his personal issues which seem to have ruined his wonderful career with Manchester United.
Mourinho’s arrival to the club this summer was always going to make it a decisive time period for the future of Memphis. When United announced Jose Mourinho, we all knew it would be the time when we will discover if the Portuguese would stick with him and give him another chance to impress or call it quits and cash in on the winger and it seems Mourinho has now decided on the latter.
