Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc is reportedly stalling on a move to Inter Milan because he believes he can replace Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
Blanc enjoyed a successful stay in the French capital winning three Ligue 1 titles but was sacked by the club last summer after failing to make his mark in the Champions League.
The former France International spent two years at Old Trafford during the end of his playing career and is a target of Serie A side Inter Milan who are lining up the Frenchman to replace Frank de Boer.
According to French newspaper outlet Le Parisien Blanc is not in a rush to get a new job and that he will wait and see what unfolds with Mourinho at Manchester United before making a final decision on his future.
Mourinho has endured a difficult start to life in Manchester since been named the new United boss back in July. A lack of consistency on the field combined with off field personal issues have all played a key role in the Portuguese tough start at the club.
Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over neighbours Manchester City in the league cup at Old Trafford went some way to ease the pressure off Mourinho but there remains far more bigger issues that the Portuguese has yet to fix.
Despite the season already been two months old Mourinho still does not appear to know his best starting eleven. During his managerial career Mourinho has always had a consistent eleven which he can trust week in week out to step up and deliver the goods no matter how big the occasion may be and if he is to take Manchester United back to the top he will have to find his strongest starting eleven sooner rather than later or he could head the same way as predecessors David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal.
