Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly willing to let midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin leave the club in the January transfer window.
The £100,000-A-Week midfielder has found game time limited so far this season under Mourinho and has been left out of each of the last three match-day squads by the Portuguese.
Mourinho is said to see Schneiderlin as no longer part of his first team plans at United and is open to letting the midfielder leave the club should they receive a substantial offer for the player.
Schneiderlin joined United from Southampton in July 2015 under former head coach Louis Van Gaal but has since failed to make any impact at Old Trafford.
The arrival of Jose Mourinho to the club over the summer was always going to prove to be a significant moment not only for Schneiderlin but for the entire Manchester United squad. It would be the moment were we would see the players who Mourinho rated and the moment who we seen the players who Mourinho didn’t rate and in Schneiderlin’s case it is clear he is one of those players he doesn’t want.
Few can deny just how talented of a player Schneiderlin is but with Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick all ahead of the Frenchman in the pecking order at Old Trafford he will undoubtedly find it difficult to win himself a place back in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven.
Now at the age of twenty six he is at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing first team football on a regular basis not be sitting in the stands every week. If he is to recapture the outstanding form he shown during his days at Southampton then a move away from Manchester United would probably be the best outcome for both parties. For United its the chance to cash in on a player who they no longer want and for Schneiderlin the chance to kick start his footballing career once more.
