Liverpool look set to be without three key first team regulars when they host Manchester United at Anfield after the international break according to physioroom.
Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne will all miss the clash against United having suffered injuries during the clubs recent 2-1 victory over Swansea City at the liberty stadium.
News of the trio missing the game will come as a huge boost to Jose Mourinho who will arguably face his toughest test so far as the new United boss.
United have endured a mixed start to the new campaign so far under the Portuguese having taken thirteen points from their opening seven league games. Inconsistency combined with poor defending has cost United dear over the past few weeks and it is that combination which Mourinho will have to fix when United take to the field against Liverpool on October 17th.
The trio of Nathaniel Cylne and Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana have all been ever present in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven this season and in the trio’s absence it provides Mourinho a fantastic opportunity to claim all three points.
Liverpool’s defence has remained an issue throughout Klopp’s stay at Anfield and it is that defence which Mourinho will undoubtedly look to get at right from the off. In Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford the Portuguese has players on his hands who can really hurt Liverpool. In Martial and Rashford he will have plenty of pace coming down the flanks whilst in Ibrahmovic has one of if not the finest striker in world football to deliver the goods up top. Klopp’s back four has looked suspect at the best of times and should United manage to take advantage of that it could prove decisive in getting the victory.
Having already lost to Manchester City last month Mourinho will be fully aware that he cannot afford to drop further points at Anfield if he is to bring the premier league title back to Old Trafford for the first time since 2013.
