Manchester United are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.
The midfielder who reportedly earns £161,000-A-Week with Madrid is also wanted by Manchester City is said be Jose Mourinho’s primary transfer target and could even make a move for the player in January.
Speaking to Spanish television station El Chiringuito journalist Pipe Estrada stated that Mourinho sees Kroos as the man to solve his midfield problems at Old Trafford and that he is prepared to enter a bidding with Pep Guardiola to land the player.
Real Madrid are desperate to keep hold of their star players at the Bernabeu but reports claim they may be willing to sell Kroos should they receive a substantial offer.
United were heavily linked with a move for the German international two years ago and with Madrid appearing open to letting their star man leave the club, a move for Kroos could take place sooner rather than later.
Kroos pin-point passing combined with his excellent reading of the game makes him one of the best midfielders in European football and a player which would without question strengthen United’s midfield.
Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin and Ander Herrera have all been tried and tested alongside Paul Pogba in the defensive midfield role by Mourinho this season with none having what it takes so far to hold down a regular first team spot. Pogba is in need of a midfield partner who can protect the back four, hold onto possession with the ball and allow him to fully express himself further up the field and in Kroos he can do exactly that.
Mourinho will undoubtedly face a massive challenge persuading Kroos to move away from the Spanish capital but should the Portuguese manage to convince him to join the club his signing would go a long way to solving Manchester United’s midfield problems for years to come.
