Wayne Rooney’s Replacement? 33 Goals 7 Assists Star Hints At Man United Move

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has fuelled speculation of a move to Manchester United after revealing to a local Spanish radio station Onda Cero as translated by 101greatgoals that he has a close relationship with Paul Pogba.

The duo spent the summer together representing France at Euro 2016 and Griezmann spoke of how close he became with the United star throughout the tournament.

Speaking to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, Griezmann stated that he and Pogba formed a close relationship with one another after the pair received criticism during Frances clash versus Romania and that he sees Pogba as his type of guy.

Griezmann has been heavily linked with a move away from the Vicente Calderon for some time now with Manchester United in particular getting linked with a move for the Frenchman.

The 25-year-old only recently signed a new deal at Atletico which is said to include a one hundred million euro release clause meaning that should United or any club meet that clause they would be able to speak to the player directly.

United are understood to see Griezmann as the clubs number one priority when the summer transfer window opens next year. Having already broken the world record to re-sign Paul Pogba from Juventus it would no doubt take a similar fee to land Griezmann but should Mourinho manage to persuade the Frenchman to move to Old Trafford he could become the final piece in the Portuguese Old Trafford jigsaw puzzle.

In signing Griezmann Manchester United would be getting a player who is about to enter his peak years as a footballer. United wouldn’t be getting a player for the future, nor a player who is long past it, they would be getting a player ready for the here and now and that is exactly what Mourinho is looking for in his bid to take United back to the top.

The Frenchman’s ability to not only score goals but provide them makes him a real unique player and is one which would undoubtedly strengthen Mourinho’s attacking options should he sign.

With Wayne Rooney now heading towards the latter stages of his footballing career Griezmann could be seen as the perfect man to take over from United’s skipper in the number ten role. Mourinho is looking for a player who can make United tick, a player that can pull the strings and link up play between the front man and wingers and in Griezmann he can do just that.

He is a footballer that would take Manchester United onto the next level and would be an improvement on what Mourinho already has. It’s a signing that needs to be made and a signing that looks as though it could be happening sooner rather than later.
