Jorge Mendes has reportedly flown in to Monaco today to discuss the future of Brazilian right-back Fabinho. Fabinho has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks with United said to be considering making an offer in the region of thirty million pounds before the window is out.
Monaco are desperate to keep hold of their star man but would consider selling the Brazilian should any club meet their valuation for the player.
Fabinho is reportedly happy to remain at Monaco this season but would be open to making the switch to Manchester United should the club accept any offer.
Mendes who is also the agent of new United boss Jose Mourinho will discuss the players future with the club today and whilst Monaco do not want to sell Fabinho so late in the transfer window a deal still remains possible to take the Brazilian to Old Trafford.
It has been no secret that the Portuguese has been looking to add new faces to his back four for some time now. Having already sold the likes of Tyler Blackett, Donald Love and Paddy McNair Mourinho has paved the way for new signings to arrive through the Old Trafford entrance door, however in leaving it so late he may now be forced to pay over the odds for the Brazilian.
Monaco value Fabinho at around thirty million pounds but with little time in the window left to find a suitable replacement for the Brazilian it is thought that the club would demand slightly more than the asking fee.
United have enjoyed a successful transfer market thus far bringing in the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly and should Mourinho manage to make Fabinho his fifth signing of the summer it would complete the Portuguese’ Old Trafford jigsaw.
On his arrival he stated that he needed specialists in key areas on the field to take Manchester United back to the top and In Fabinho he would be signing exactly that a specialist. Antonio Valencia may have endured an impressive start to the new campaign but he isn’t a proper right-back by trade he is a winger and with Italian Metteo Darmian seemingly not favoured by Mourinho it is essential that he brings an established right-back to the cub before the summer transfer window slams shut tonight.
At just twenty two years of age Fabinho has his best footballing days ahead of him. The Brazilian has all the footballing potential and ability to go on and become one of the world’s very best and under the guidance of Mourinho he could do exactly that.
Whether Fabinho does indeed join the red devils before the transfer window slams shut remains to be seen however one thing cannot be denied should Mourinho manage to persuade the Brazilian to join him at Old Trafford it would take Manchester United that one step closer to bringing back the Premier League Title for the first time since 2013.
