Three wins out of three in the league along with victory in the Community Shield against Leicester City has seen Jose Mourinho make a fantastic start to life as Manchester United manager.
United go into the international break sitting level on points with Chelsea in the Premier League table boasting a 100% win record thus far.
In Mourinho’s opening games he has chopped and changed his players in an attempt to find his very best starting eleven for the season ahead. We take a look at what may possibly be regarded as the Portuguese’s strongest starting eleven.
In between the sticks David De Gea remains the club’s one number one choice goalkeeper having already bagged two clean sheets against Southampton at Hull City. At right back despite primary being an out and out winger Antonio Valencia has begun the season in fine form keeping out Matteo Darmian out of the side altogether. Should the Ecuadorian keep up his impressive form, he undoubtedly deserves a spot in the Mourinho’s strongest eleven.
The Portuguese’s strongest centre back pairing thus far has been new club signing Eric Bailly and Daley Blind. The pair have started the new campaign off fantastically together and almost certainly will be the Portuguese starting pair when the premier league kicks into action against after the break, whilst at left back Luke Shaw will continue to deputise.
With Mourinho favouring his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation it makes the duo in central midfield crucial. New club record signing Paul Pogba automatically goes into the eleven, however it would be Morgan Schneiderlin who we feel deserves a place in the side. alongside the Frenchman. He has yet to stat a game for his new boss but his evident potential and ability makes him the superior choice over the likes of Maraoune Fellaini and Michael Carrick.
Mourinho has a bundle of options to choose from going forward and it is that luxury which has made it choosing his strongest front three so difficult. However after much contemplating we have decided to go with Mkhitaryan who will be conducting matters in the number ten role. He has yet to be handed a first team start by Mourinho, but his recent performance against hull city made it evident that the Armenian needs to be in the starting eleven ahead of Wayne Rooney.
Out on the flanks Memphis Depay should be given a proper chance to deliver by Mourinho on the left hand side. Memphis has a bagful of ability in those football boots and should be given a chance preform. If Memphis can play to the best of his ability he can be a real handful for the opposition and would do a much better job than Juan Mata who is currently playing out of position there on the flank. and should be a starter in Jose Mourinho’s side.
Despite Anthony Martial’s recent dip in form, he is still one of the finest talents in world football and when all said in done he is still one of United’s main threats going forward which is why we feel he deserves a place in Mourinho’s strongest eleven.
Up top Zlatan Ibrahimovic has to be Mourinho’s first choice when choosing his solo front man. Goals against Bournemouth and Southampton have all showed exactly why the Portuguese brought the swede to the club. It’s a crying shame for Rashford but we have to go with Ibrahimovic.
