Wayne Rooney To Be Dropped, Mkhitaryan To Start Against Hull City

Manchester United will be looking to make it three wins from three when the Reds travel to the KC Stadium this Saturday to face Hull City and there will be one man especially who will be looking to make an impact and that man is Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Following his multi-million pound move from Borussia Dortmund last month, the Armenian skipper has yet to start a game for his new club and has more often than not found himself sitting on the substitutes bench rather than out on the pitch.

Wayne Rooney’s below par performances thus far playing in the advanced number ten role gives Mourinho a real dilemma ahead of the Hull clash. Should the Portuguese drop his skipper and give Mkhitaryan a go, or should he persist with Rooney? The answer would be to give Mkhitaryan a go.

The Armenian will be chomping at the bit to start for united and in playing against Hull City this could be his chance to show his new boss what he is all about. The Tigers are likely to set up in a more defensive 4-5-1 formation with ten men sitting behind the ball. In order to break the Hull backline down you need that creative player in and around the box who can unlock defences and in Mkhitaryan he is exactly the man to do that.

With the game likely to be a close one, the inclusion of Mkhitaryan could prove a decisive one in the outcome of the match. He will no doubt be looking to make a good impression for his new boss and if he can produce even half of what he showed in his Dortmund days against Hull then we are all in for a treat.

Even in the little we have seen of Mkhitaryan over pre-season, the talent and potential he has in those footballing boots is unquestionable. Against Bournemouth and Southampton we were crying out for a piece of real quality in that attacking midfield role, Rooney didn’t provide us that, nor has Mata. It is now time for Mkhitaryan to be given a chance.

With Mkhitaryan in the Manchester United side it would give the reds that extra edge in the final third. His creativeness on the ball would supply the wingers in Martial, Memphis or Lingard and play in Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Marcus Rashford up top to score the goals.

From his time over in Germany at Borussia Dortmund, Mkhitaryan showed us that he is not only able to score goals, but provide them as well and with a place at number ten in Mourinho’s new look united side still up for grabs, it is vital that the Armenian takes his chance if selected by the Portuguese against Hull City on Saturday.
